Description : DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY: As a world leader in biometrics, we have a full time position available in New York City for a technical support engineer. You will support our proprietary system located at a customer site in Manhattan. This position requires you to be on-call 24x7. Valid driver’s license required, as well as successful completion of a background check and drug test. Green card holder or U.S. citizen. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide application support, system administration, preventive and remedial hardware and software maintenance support for multiple servers and workstations (which use our proprietary software). Most systems run Windows Server, with a few servers running UNIX/AIX. * Provide first level of support to customer * Solve software and hardware related problems * Work with developers on system enhancements SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS Required: Customer support experience to include system administration using Windows server, knowledge of relational databases and TCPIP Networking. Lift 40-60 lbs (ability to move computer equipment). Highly desired – but not absolutely required: Four-year degree in technical field or equivalent levels of experience, or two-year degree with equivalent levels of experience (2yrs experience = 1 year degree equivalence). Two years of prior experience in technical support capacity. Two years or more using Windows Server in a professional environment. Two years or more of customer support experience. UNIX /AIX, SQL database skills, MCSE, programming and/or scripting skills a plus. PREFER LOCAL APPLICANTS AS NO RELOCATION WILL BE PROVIDED
